NSS unit celebrates Women's Day
NSS Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College, a constituent college of Cluster University of Jammu, under the patronage of College Principal (Prof.) Dr. G.S. Rakwal, organized a special event commemorating the International Women’s Day. The event spanned across a whole week that included activities related to women empowerment. The NSS Unit performed all these activities in sync with this year’s Women’s Day theme which is “gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.” The event kicked off with a special plantation drive on 6th March which was done in collaboration with NGO- SUPPORT, AISDC. Dr. Navneet Kaur, Head of the Support NGO, paid a visit to the college for the plantation drive which comprised of an all-girls team. This was followed by a yoga session with Mr. Nischal Sharma Leading the session as the yoga instructor.
On the eve of International Women’s Day, the NSS Unit in collaboration with the Women Cell of the college, organized a special play and poetry recitation event. The play was performed by the NSS Volunteers which portrayed the various challenges faced by women in the society and how they overcome these obstacles by their indomitable patience, resilience and determination. The play was undoubtedly the main highlight of the week-long event.

The College Principal congratulated the entire NSS Team for delivering a sui generis event that is worthy of the highest commendation.
The event was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Ruth Masehi, Women Development Cell Coordinator and NSS Program Officers Dr Koushal Kiran Thakur and Mr. Shabir Ahmed.
