Report on National Science Festival w.e.f 22 – 28 Feb, 2022
As per the directions and support by Dr G S Rakwal, esteemed Principal of the College, Department of Chemistry motivated their students to participate in week long National Science festive celebration held at Jammu University. The theme of the festival was ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ organised by Ministry of Culture, Govt. Of India and Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. Of India under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. 15 Chemistry students from Govt MAM College Jammu under the supervision of Dr Sumita Dham, Head of the Department participated in Science week celebration Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate at Jammu University wef 22 Feb- 28 Feb, 2022. Dr Satinder K Juneja and Prof Poonam Angotra accompanied the students during their participation. Dr Inderjeet Kour guided and prepared the students for various competitive events. During 7 days celebration, students were enlightened with the lectures delivered physically n virtually by various eminent Speakers like Prof Deepak Kumar (JNU, Delhi) IFS O P Sharma Vidyarthi, Prof JagPaul Sharma (Ex Director, SKAUST), Dr Sumit Gairola (CSIR-IIIM, Jammu), Prof Vishal Rai (IISER, Bhopal), Prof Manoj Dhar (VC of JU). All these Speakers focussed on the milestones in the development of history of Science in Indian Context. Students were also made aware of the Challenges and Opportunities in various fields of Science in the 21st century. Different events were held during the Science week celebration like Book fair and poster exhibition, Screening of Documentaries and various National level Competitions. Students of all semesters participated in various events viz essay writing, slogan writing, poster making and quiz competition. On Day 3, four Students namely Manav, Sheetal, Mohd Kaleem and Keerat participated in Essay writing competition. On day 4, Sheetal Devi participated in Slogan writing competition. On Day 5, Six students namely Shakeel, Sheetal, Keerat, Vishav Dev, Narender and Abdul Wahid participated in quiz based on Science and Technology. Day 6 marks with the conduct of Poster making Competition in which our three students viz Dalip Kumar, Manav and Sheetal participated. Science festival concluded on 28 February with the valedictory function in which Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal was the chief Guest.
