NSS workshop on “Drug Abuse and Preventive Measures”
The NSS Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu, a constituent college of Cluster University of Jammu in collaboration with JK Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses, under the aegis of IQAC organized a special one day awareness program on “Drug Abuse and Preventive Measures” under the patronage of College Principal Prof G.S. Rakhwal. JKSPYM is a State level coordinating agency supported by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India which is engaged in constant efforts to beat drug problem in the UT of J&K by interacting with the young men and women affected with drug abuse. The resource person for the awareness program was Mrs. Pooja Dubey, Counsellor, JKSPYM who focused on the role played by drug addiction in ruining the future of the younger generation while also highlighting the effects that drug addiction has on a nation, as it paralyzes it’s growth and progress. Drug Abuse as a bigger problem was discussed by Mrs. Pooja Dubey in this interactive session which also touched upon the preventive measures to keep the problem of drug abuse at bay. A total of 70 NSS volunteers attended this awareness program which effectively added to their knowledge and awareness about this lethal problem prevalent in the society. The entire program was conducted under the supervision of NSS Program Officers Dr Koushal Kiran Thakur and Mr Shabir Ahmed.
