Lecture on Awareness of Road Safety and Traffic Rules Organized at M A M College
NCC Infantry and NCC Naval Wings of Maulana Azad Memorial College organized a lecture on the awareness of Road Safety and Traffic Rules on June 08, 2022. The resource person was Mr. Navneet, Inspector (Traffic ) JK Police. The resource person detailed about the road safety rules and further elaborated on the importance of following the traffic rules. He also encouraged the students to be ambassadors of road safety rules. Principal, Prof. Dr. G. S. Rakwal in his remarks congratulated the NCC wings of the college for organizing a lecture on such an important issue in which the country reported nearly 132 thousand fatalities due to road accidents in 2020 alone. Each year, about three to five percent of the country’s GDP is invested in road accidents. Notably, while India has about one percent of the world’s vehicle population, it also accounted for about six percent of the global road traffic incidents. Almost 70 percent of the accidents involve young Indians. He also remarked to organize such lectures at regular frequency. Major. Dr. Karan Singh, in his welcome, highlighted the importance of golden hour time, the golden hour is the first '60 minutes' following any injury or trauma, and promised further sensitization of the students regarding the care and support needs of accident victims during golden hour time. Dr. Anil Singh presented the formal vote of thanks. Prof. Rajesh Gupta, Prof. Monita Bhat, Prof. Poonam Angotra and Prof. Sudesh Kumar were also present during the lecture, besides the NCC cadets of infantry and Naval wing of the college.
