“Run for Unity”
NCC (Infantry and Naval) units of Maulana Azad Memorial College under the able guidance of
Principal Dr. Surinder Kumar, Major Dr. Karan Singh, Associate NCC Officer Infantry Wing and
Dr. Anil Singh, Care Taking Officer of Naval Wing organised a "Run for Unity” to commemorate
the National Unity Day on the birth anniversary of The Iron Man of India, Sh. Sardar Vallabhbhai
Patel who had a major role in the political integration of India.
Around 255 NCC cadets from Maulana Azad Memorial College, Polytechnic College Jammu,
Govt. HSS Gandhinagar, ITI Jammu participated in the Unity Run. The Unity Run was flagged
off by the Chief guest, Colonel R. S. Jasrotia (SM) of 2 J&K Bn (Boys) NCC Jammu and Dr.
Surinder Kumar, Principal of the College, from the college gate to Balidan Stambh near Bhau Fort
Police Station, Jammu. After reaching the Balidan Stambh and covering approximately 2kms
distance, Cadets and the accompanying officers took the pledge to maintain the unity of the Nation.
Principal of the College in his address to the cadets stressed on the importance of the unity of
Nation and highlighted the role of NCC in maintaining and strengthening the unity among the
masses. He also appreciated the efforts of the NCC units of the college. Major Dr. Karan Singh,
in his address to the cadets highlighted the contribution of first Home Minister of Independent
India in uniting the country
