The NSS Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College, a constituent college of Cluster University of Jammu under the Patronage of Principal Prof. G.S Rakwal organized a Poster Making competition on World Aids Day. World AIDS Day brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic.The day is an opportunity for public and private partners to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care around the world. It has become one of the most widely recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have died, and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services. The volunteers of the unit made posters on the theme of this year “ ROCK THE RIBBON”. The college principal shares his views on stopping the cases of HIV. The event was coordinated by Rahul Thakur and Arjun Soni under the supervision of NSS Programme officers Dr. Koushal Kiran Thakur and Mr. Shabir Ahmed.Another awareness event was organised by the Red Ribbon Club of the college in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society . Rangoli making competition and short-story telling competitions were organised. The programme was conducted under the patronage of Principal, Prof. (Dr) G.S Rakwal. In his address to the students, he highlighted the importance of participating in such co-curricular activities and the role of such activities in shaping their personalities. A large number of students participated in the competition. The formal welcome address was given by Dr. Shabila Wani who in her welcome address narrated the significance of observing Worlds Aids Day in spreading the awareness about the deadly disease. Anmol Preet Kaur, Satveer Kour and Jaspreet Kour stood at 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in rangoli competition. The competition was adjudged by Prof Kawaljeet Kour and Prof Jozpheen Afzal. While in the short-story telling competition Simran Saraf , Niharika Sharma and Navjeet Kour clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes and the event was adjudged by Prof. Sarabpreet Kour, Prof Anupama Kumari and Dr. Koshika. The winners were presented with certificates of awards along with mementoes. The formal vote of thanks was given by Dr Shahnawaz Qadri. Dr Sanjay Karloopia, Prof Bhanu Priya, Prof Meena Gupta, Prof Neelam, Dr Atiya Noor, Dr. Kamaljeet Kour and Prof Mohd. Ashraf were also present at the occasion. |
