NCC Naval Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College Commemorates Navy Day
NCC Naval unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College under the able guidance of Principal Dr. G. S. Rakwal, organised various activities under the banner of “My Town My Pride” to commemorate the Navy Day and Navy Week. Principal of the College in his address to the cadets stressed on the importance of the unity of Nation and highlighted the role of NCC in maintaining and strengthening the unity among the masses. Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Coordinator IQAC in his interaction with the cadets appreciated the efforts of the NCC Naval unit of the college. Navy Day is celebrated to commemorate the “Operation Trident”, which was the attack on the Karachi harbour during the Indo-Pakistan war (on 4 December 1971) by the Indian Naval Missile boats as well in to the reverence of all the martyrs of that war. The commemoration began with the start of a 100 meters race, in which Cadets Surbhi and Madiha secured first and second positions respectively. After that, a debate on “Indian Navy-Opportunities and Challenges in the Indian Ocean” and a quiz competition on the general knowledge of armed forces were organised. The winning team of debate competition was led by Cadet. Summit Mannar along with Cadet Vandhna. And the winning team of quiz competition was also led by Cadet Sumit Mannar along with Madiha and Khushi. The jury members for the debate and quiz competitions were Dr. Nitika Sharma, Prof. Navita and Prof. Vimal. The function concluded with a skit and a group song by the cadets. The complete event was supervised and coordinate by Dr. Anil Singh, Care Taking Officer of Naval Unit and SCC Sunakshi Gupta. Other senior faculty members who are present in the event are Prof. Rajesh Kotwal, Dr. Anupama Gupta, Dr. Kamaljeet Kour, Dr. Sayed Nasir Ali, Dr. Koushal Kiran and Prof. Meena Gupta.
