| A One day workshop on Introduction to Patent filling and Presentation of New Innovative Idea in was organized today at Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu in collaboration with J and k Science Technology and Innovation council, Department of Science and Technology under the aegies of “My college My Pride”. The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony was Dr. GS Rakwal, Principal of the college. The Workshop started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Ms Shruti Khanna, District Coordinator, Department of Science and Technology. Prof Bharti Slathia, Coordinator of the event formally welcomed the guests and apprised the audience about the one day event aiming at spreading awareness regarding intellectual property rights. The event included 3 technical sessions. Dr Kancherala Prasad, Senior Scientist CSIR, IIM, Jammu, the resource person in his power point presentation spoke at length over why a need to protect intellectual property and threw light on various intellectual property rights like patents, copyrights, geographical indicators, trademarks.The second technical session was presided over by Mr. Manik Gupta who also explained the various integrities involved with intellectual property rights. Both the technical sessions were followed by interactive session which witnessed huge participation from the students.The third technical session belonged to students where students from different constituent colleges of the Cluster University pitched their innovative ideas. Dr Twinkle Suri, DSW Cluster university Jammu and Mr. Anil Suri, Chairman AB Group of companies were the jury members for the session. The session was coordinated by Ms. Vijeeta Anand.Dr GS Rakwal in his address exhorted that whether you're planning a start-up or a family business that's been trading for generations, recognising and protecting your intellectual property (IP) is critical to growth, protecting what's yours and maintaining a good reputation. IP is about protecting the time, money and effort you put into your business.Dr. Satinder Juneja delivered the formal vote of thanks.Dr Banpreet Kour, Prof Amit Pal, Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Prof. Sanjay Singh, Prof Sudesh Kumar Prof Mohd. Ashraf and Prof Shiv Kumar were also present on the occasion. |
