| Jammu, December 23, 2022. Department of Geology, Govt. MAM College under the able guidance of Dr. G.S Rakwal (Principal, MAM College) organized a lecture on the topic, "Origin of the Earth and its evolution”. The event started with Prof. Vimal presenting a formal welcome address to the invited speaker Dr. Mateen Hafiz, Assistant Professor, GDC Kathua, Dr. Sanjay Karlupia (HOD Geology, MAM College) and the students attending the lecture.Dr. Sanjay Karlupia presented a brief insight about the topic and its relevance. Dr. Mateen Hafiz in his lecture deliberated on the topic. He explained how the solar system settled into its current layout about 4.5 billion years ago, Earth formed when gravity pulled swirling gas and dust in to become the third planet from the Sun. Students participated very enthusiastically and also raised many queries which were addressed by Dr. Mateen Hafiz.The program ended with formal vote of thanks by Dr.. Sumit Khullar. He thanked the speaker for sparing valuable time for the event. He also appreciated the students for their participation and motivated them to take part in such events in future as well. |
