MAM College, Jammu Organized “Model G20 Summit Simulation.
The Department of English, Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu organized the Model G20 Summit simulation on 22nd February 2023, the first of its kind in the college, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). 25 students from various semesters of this college have enthusiastically participated in this event. The aim of this event was to create awareness among the students about the various educational strategies and systems that exist in this vast world and expand their horizons of vision. It will also help them to develop soft skills and also enhance their leadership qualities. It will instill confidence in them to represent themselves on any platform. It will also provide the students the opportunities for them to develop versatility and charisma in the divergent facet of their growth.

In the Model G20 Summit, students acted as the delegated representatives of the countries which were assigned to them and defended their views on their country’s education system. Each delegate spoke at large about the education system and challenges their country is facing. They also deliberated on the best solution that can be practiced to solve the issues about the education system in their respective countries.
The program was organized under the supervision of Prof Ruth K Masehi HOD English, Prof Neeraj Sharma IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Gurdeep Kaur, Prof. Vishal Sharma, and under the dynamic guidance of Prof Dr. G S Rakwal Principal of MAM College, Jammu.
Prof. Ruth K Masehi during the opening remarks of the event sensitized the audience about the importance of India’s G20 Presidency which began on 1st December 2022, holds in this complex and ever-changing international geo politics and explained the significance of “Model G20 Summit” simulation. She also created awareness among students about G20 Summit. It is held annually, under the leadership of a rotating presidency. She apprised the students that the presidency is supported by the Troika – previous, current, and incoming presidency. During India’s presidency, the troika will comprise Indonesia, India and Brazil respectively, the theme of the G20 Summit 2023 “One World, One Family and One Future” and India has taken education as one of the issues in the G20 Summit 2023.
Prof G S Rakwal, Principal of MAM College in his closing remarks highlighted the importance of holding such events. He appreciated the students and encouraged them to participate in more such activities.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Prof G S Rakwal felicitated the participants with certificates, medals and prizes.
The NSS-SFU volunteers of Maulana Azad Memorial college assisted in the smooth organizing of the event.
The program was attended by faculty members of the various department of the college. The welcome note was presented by Dr. Gurdeep Kaur and the vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sarabpreet Kaur.
