Maulana Azad Memorial College holds One Day Awareness and Sensitization Programme on Intergenerational Bonding in Colleges.
National Service Scheme (NSS)-SFU of Maulana Azad Memorial College in collaboration with National Institute of social defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and Anugraha Regional Resource and Training Centre on Ageing held one day awareness and sensitization programme on intergenerational bonding in Colleges. The programme began with the welcome address of Dr. GS Rakwal, Principal of the college where he acknowledged the role played by the Anugraha regional center in generating the awareness and providing support for the elderly population, particularly those who are living alone or have limited access to resources. He also stated thatwith an increasing number of older adults living alone, it is imperative that we come together as a community to address their needs and ensure that they are not left behind.
Dr. Abha Choudhary, Chairperson Anugraha Regional Center and Ms. Deepali ,Noted lawyer and member of rotary club were the resource persons. Through this programme, they aimed to create awareness among the younger generation about the importance of respecting and caring for the elderly. Dr. Abha highlighted that Anugraha is engaged in organizing workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions to discuss various issues related to ageing, such as physical and mental health, financial planning and social isolation. It is also providing support to older adults who may be struggling with basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare. This is done through a network of volunteers and partner organizations who work together to identify and address the needs of the elderly in our community. Ms Deepali in her address stated that this programme will not only benefit the elderly population but also the community as a whole. She made the students aware about the varied helpline numbers and legal framework available for senior citizens throughout the country. She exhorted the students to interact with the senior members in their families and spend quality time with them.
Prof Vishal Sharma Co- Convener IQAC also spoke on the occasion and emphasized that by creating awareness and providing support for the elderly, we can build a more compassionate and inclusive society where everyone is valued and respected, regardless of their age. They urged everyone in the community to come forward and join them in this initiative.
The entire programme was coordinated by Navjot, Volunteer NSS-SFU and Ms. Vijeeta Anand,Assistant Professor presented the formal vote of thanks. Prof Neeraj Sharma, Convener IQAC,, Dr. Banpreet Kour, Prof Rajesh Kotwal Prof. Sudesh, Prof Neetika Sharma attended the event.
