The Department of Music, Govt M A M College organized an interactive session by Mr Ravi Shankar Kemmu ,a living legend and veteran of Music and Dramatics for its students. He is a double graduate in Sciences as well as Dramatics from Kashmir University and National School of Drama, Delhi, respectively. He has studied theatrical art forms of India on fellowship of Sangeet Natak Akademy. He started his career as an actor in Malayalam film Football in 1982. He has been associated with films like Raajneeti, Zindagi na Milege Dobara,Janooniyat etc besides Discovery of india for Doordarshan. He immensly contributed in theatre and television as director, writer, actor and producer. He has been actively involved in promoting theatre and films in Jammu and Kashmir, He has been closely associated with Mr Shyam Benegal for the direction of many films and television productions and has, individually, directed and produced many theatrical productions, Short films, Documentaries and series for television. Being an expert on Bhand pather(folk and traditional art form of Kashmir), he is working tirelessly for the revival of folk forms of J and K. As Chairman jury South ll and member central jury National film awards 2020 he has contributed his visionary ideology in the film industry of India on the whole. Apart from this, he is Consulting editor and President for WFY (World For You , an international online digital Magazine in English with a major focus on Indian Diaspora ) and, also, contributes, significantly, as Chairman ALG Cultural Society, Jammu.Dr Kuldeep Raina, H O D Music, introduced the celebrated guest who was formally welcomed by Dr B B Anand, Principal Govt M A M College. During his welcome address Dr Anand highlighted myriad of accomplishments of the resource person and congratulated the organizers for actualizing such an extraordinary learning platform for its students. The highly enthused delivery by Mr Kemmu left the audience spell bound and invigorated them with the zeal and passion for learning music and theatre. His oceanic knowledge of music and performing arts along with his grounded manner of expression made the students feel at home and participate actively in the learning experience. The event was graced by Dr Indu Khajuria, Asst Prof English, Cluster University and a formal vote of thanks was extended, at the end, by Prof Rashu Sharma, Dept of English. |
