Valedictory Function of One-Week Dogri Manyata Diwas Celebration Held at MAM College, Jammu

Jammu, December 23, 2024: The Department of Dogri, Government Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu, today successfully concluded the One-Week Dogri Manyata Diwas Celebration-2024 with a grand valedictory function. The week-long event, held from December 16 to December 23, 2024, highlighted the importance of the Dogri language and its cultural heritage.

The valedictory function was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Bhushan Anand, Principal of the College, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Lalit Magotra as the Guest of Honour. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Nazia Choudhary, Head of the Department of Dogri, who detailed the activities and achievements of the week-long celebration.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Bhushan Anand lauded the efforts of the Department of Dogri in organizing such an impactful event. He encouraged the faculty and students to continue working with enthusiasm and dedication, emphasizing that such initiatives would build confidence and positively shape their personalities.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. Ujjwal of BA Semester I delivered an inspiring speech on the importance of the Dogri language. This was followed by soulful recitations of Dogri poems by Sunakshi, Rinku, Bhoomika, Archie, and Anshu of BA Semester I, along with a melodious group song that added cultural fervor to the occasion.

Guest of Honour Prof. Lalit Magotra stressed the significance of incorporating Dogri into everyday life. He highlighted the rich history and development of the Dogri language, urging students and faculty to use Dogri at home and produce high-quality literature to preserve and promote the language. He also emphasized leveraging technology to bring Dogri into the limelight and reach every household.

The program was attended by a large number of students and faculty members, including Dr. Manir Hussain, Prof. Sanjay Sambyal, Dr. Munish Kumar, Prof. Shabir Ahmed, Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Dr. Imran Hussain, Dr. Purshotam Dass, Prof. Asha Rani, and Dr. Rajveer Singh.

The valedictory session concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Deepika Mehra, Assistant Professor, Department of Dogri, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty, and students for their active participation and support throughout the week.

The One-Week Dogri Manyata Diwas Celebration-2024 was a resounding success, leaving an indelible mark on the participants and fostering pride in the Dogri language and culture.
