OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL GOVT. MAM COLLEGE JAMMUPRESSS RELEASE20th July 2020Medicinal Tree Plantation Drive at Govt. MAM College, Jammu.A medicinal tree plantation drive was organised at Govt. MAM College, Jammu by the NCC unit under the esteemed supervision of Associate NCC Officer Major Karan Singh of the college. This drive is being conducted continuously from the last 10 years with an objective to contribute in preserving and promoting the environment. The very first drive was undertaken with the cultivation of 50 saplings of Amla trees in the college premises. Last year this drive was conducted at village Jaswan(Marh), the village adopted by the NCC unit of the college where the Chief Guest was the then MLA SH. Sukhnandan Choudhary. Today, this drive was conducted with the plantation of medicinal trees namely Insulin tree, Alo vera, Giloy and Neem Which are beneficial for the treatment of diabetes, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and also increase immune system of the human body which is the need of the hour particularly during the present epidemic Covid-19.. On The occasion The Group Commander NCC Jammu Brig. Satish Kumar was the Chief Guest. He encouraged cadets to plant more trees and take care of their plantation thereafter. He said that every day should be treated as Vanmahotsav and plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy. Dr. G.S. Rakwal, Principal of the college emphasised on the importance of “Tree plantation drive to maintain ecological balance”. Besides this Lt. Rohit Sharma, Associate NCC officer of GBHSS Gandhi Nagar, Jammu made cadets aware about the parameters which should be followed to curb the spread of novel corona virus (Covid-19) like social distancing, frequent hand wash, wearing masks, use of sanitizers etc. Others present on the occasion were Prof. Nalini Pathania, Prof. Shanawaz. Parveen, Prof. Shabila Wani, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Prof. P. S Thakur, Prof. Namita Jamwal and Non- teaching staff members of the college of Govt. MAM Collage, Jammu. |
