One-day Seminar dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
Dept. of Punjabi, Maulana Azad Memorial College under the Aegis of IQAC in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu, organized a one-day Seminar dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Principal Dr. Archana Kaul, Sh. Popinder Singh Paras (Senior Editor, Sheeraza Punjabi), Senior writers Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, Jang S. Verman were present on the dais while as Staff of various Departments including Prof Sunil Uppal, Prof Muneer Hussain, Prof Amitpal Kour, Prof Bharti Salathia, Prof Sanjay Samyal, Prof Shahbaz Ahmed, Prof Munish Kumar, Prof Shiv Mangal, Prof Sarvjeet Singh & Prof Deep Chand were also present in the programme.

Dr. Harbhajan Singh (HOD, Punjabi) welcomed the guests and participants. The programme featured poetry and papers on the life and ultimate sacrifice of the ninth Guru of Sikhs, by the young students of the college – Harmanjeet Singh, Manmeet Singh, Ravleen Kour, Simran Kour, Gurneet Kour, Harshdeep Kour, Harman Kour, Gurpreet Kour, Sneha Choudhary, Gagandeep Kour, Simranjeet Kour and Jovenpreet Singh, who recited verses dedicated to the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Dr. Archana Kaul, Principal of the college appreciated the participating students and efforts of the Academy for organizing programmes which connect the new generation with the values, heritage and culture of the land, which can prove to be instrumental in connecting the young students with their roots. She also highlighted the teachings, life and supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Dr. Baljit Singh Raina also expressed his views on the great sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.

Sh. Popinder Singh Paras shared valuable insights about the activities of the Academy and spoke at length about the significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice and teachings of Sikh Gurus. He urged the students to read good literary creations and pen down their ideas.

During the event, Academy also arranged a book exhibition under the supervision of Purshotam Kumar and Vipan Sharma, showcasing Academy’s publications.

Punjabi Department students Harmanjeet Singh and Simranjeet Kour conducted the proceedings of the programme. The Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Kamaljeet Kour.
