Symposium: Women in Atamnirbhar Bharat
Department of Sociology of Govt. MAM PG College organised a symposium on the topic ‘Women in Atmanirbhar Bharat’ under the programme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav’. The Programme began with welcome address by Prof. Meenakshi Thakur, Head Department of Sociology. Principal of the college Prof. Sunil Uppal appreciated the organisation of such events to make education wholesome. Danish Sharma, Aman Thakur, Pratima Manhas, Anchal Balgotra, Preetam Rana, Karan Gupta, Bheeshm Gupta, Kamakshi Vaid, Shikhar Sharma, Jaffer and Deepak Paru participated in the event.
The Judges for the event were Prof. Ruth K. Masehi, Head Department of English, Dr. Seema Jamwal, Head Department of Political science and Dr. Shehnaz Qadri, Head Department of Urdu. Deepak Paru of semester 4th secured Ist position, Kamakshi Vaid of semester 6th secured 2nd position and Jaffer Naik of semester 6th secured 3rd position.
Principal of the College, Prof. Sunil Uppal appreciated the students for the meticulous presentation of their views. He also appreciated the role of women in Atmanirbhar Bharat and spoke on the role played by women in the pre as well as post-independence period in India’s journey towards self- reliance.
The event was co-ordinated by Aryan, Akshit Rana, Janvi Dubey and Gurpreet Kour students of semester VI. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all the participants and award of medals to the winners.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Gulshan Ara, Department of Sociology.
