Clean India initiative by NSS unit of the College
The NSS unit of the college organized a series of activities under the patronage of Prof. Dr. G. S. Rakwal in the month of December 2021 under the Clean India Campaign , an initiative of Union ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The month long event consisted of three major activities which included a Campus Cleanliness Drive, , Cleaning of the Local Water Bodies and Visit to an Adopted Village .
A special cleanliness drive was undertaken from December 6 to 8 which aimed at promoting a clean environment in the Campus, while a college beautification activity was also conducted during these three days. Picking up the pace from this activity the NSS unit then turned its attention and focus on cleaning Tawi river. NSS Programme Officers along with along with NSS volunteers reached the banks of Tawi and started the process of cleaning the riverbanks by manually picking up single use plastic and other harmful substances.
For the final activity, NSS unit visited Jakh, a village in Samba District, which was recently adopted by the College. NSS volunteers interacted with the local governing body members and the people of Jakh village. The unit also took up the task of cleaning certain areas and surroundings of a nearby pond. NSS unit expressed gratitude towards the village for their collaboration and active involvement in the initiative.
All the above activities were conducted under the supervision of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Koushal Kiran Thakur and Shabir Ahmed.
